Local Board of Administration

Each Sainik School has a Local Board of Administration headed by the General Officer Commanding in Chief of the concerned command or an officer of the rank of Major General or equivalent nominated by him. The structure is as under

The Board exercises general administrative and financial control over the School. In the case of Sainik School Satara the General Officer Commanding Maharashtra Gujarat and Goa Area located in Mumbai is the Chairman of the Local Board of Administration.

School Setup

There are three service officers in each School. The Principal, the rank of a Colonel or equivalent is the academic and administrative head of the School and is responsible to the Board of Governors and the Local Board of Administration for the efficient running of the School. He is assisted in the performance of his duties by the Vice Principal and the Administrative Officer of the rank of Lieutenant Colonel or equivalent rank. The Vice Principal is the head of the academic faculty and directly responsible to the Principal for training, education and discipline of the students. The Administrative Officer is responsible to the Principal for all administrative and logistic (Q) duties.
